I guess I should explain some essentials for starters, so here I go :

For now, I will take the chance to briefly explain the meaning of “3D” (the meaning of “anatomy” here is medical human anatomy, as opposed to anything sexy).

Okay – real 3D is obviously not something that you only see but rather something that you can also touch so as to feel it´s dimensions in a tactile way – a real 3D object is basically always a physical thing that you could at least theoretically touch – like the sun or an apple.

Something you watch on a “3DTV screen”, through stereoscopic glasses or via a hologram is NOT at all 3D, it is a fake – an optical illusion. Even your eyes themselves cannot prove the 3D-ness of an object, but you can of course believe in it – the french term “trompe d´oeuil” touches that subject well but the term “3D” is being misused these days like never before, and in all languages.

The subject of this blog is *virtual* 3D, something that has 3d-dimensional coordinates like a real 3D object, which are however handled inside a computer`s memory - still that doesn´t mean you can see any strange effects with funny glasses. But you will be able to move and rotate this stuff on a computer screen and make it come alive… so, virtual 3D is not a fake, rather it is a digital replica.

I will be uploading info, tuts, anatomy pictures and 3d anatomy models (copyright-free for you to use or at least partially so) as obviously there is not much qualified free content of this kind available for webmasters or other interested people right now at all. I will upload, link or explain *what I can get* – and I hope someone will help from time to time because it´s a jungle out there with many people who can really use this stuff, so many thanks to any content providers for 3d anatomy freebies or at least pictures of them…

Well, as soon as there is time : starting this blog between Christmas and New Year turned out to be a bit over-optimistic… btw. I took the domain 3danatomy.co because it hit the point and was easily available (the .nets and .orgs all seemed to be taken).

If anyone has questions about 3d anatomy, needs something of the kind or has anything to contribute, be my guest !

See y´all, Jack
